I'm not sure I'm in for the long haul. I found the season opener pretty dull -- it barely kept my attention -- and the followup only marginally better.

Although scratching Rip Carter and Hawkman from the roster is a net plus, losing Snart is a big minus. As for Kendra, I liked her.

A nice bit of business where Hourman queries our Legends about their plans, White Canary answers, and he dismisses her with "I was talking to the team leader," meaning Professor Stein. Stein's realization by episode's end that he's not a wartime consigliere was well done.

I'm surprised that Canary didn't question the 1940s sexism.

The show can't decide whether to question the attitudes of the past or disregard their existence, and often can't decide within one episode. For me, it's part of a broader unevenness (tone, especially) that keeps me disengaged. I dropped it last year, save for certain guest appearances. I'll be doing the same this year.

I am occasionally annoyed when they ignore or almost ignore the racial attitudes of the past. This episode they had a Nazi general dancing with Vixen, who certainly doesn't meet his ethnic attitudes.

I agree completely. This scene had me smacking my head in frustration. The scene when Stein was asked to sing, with the request that there be "no negro music" really had me questioning the shows consistency. Was this just poor direction? I did consider that the dance scene may be setting up a future plot point; but, I just don't think that's the case.

Not to mention, of course, a guy named "Stein" not being at all introspective about the circumstances ...

In case you don't know, this coming week (Nov 28 - Dec 1), the CW network shows will have a four part crossover.

It begins with Supergirl on Monday, Flash on Tuesday, Arrow on Wednesday and Legends of Tomorrow on Thursday.

Anyone who doesn't watch all four shows should consider watching all of them and, I would guess, in the order broadcast.

My wife and I are this close to dropping Legends. We had fallen three episodes behind just because we're never in te mood to watch it. We're caught up now and plan to watch the four-part crossover. then we'll decide whether to continue or not. I have heard these four shows collectrively as the "Arrowverse." Personally I think Arrow is the weakest of the four. Technically, Supergirl is set in a universe different from the other three.

Jeff, my wife and I watch all the CW superhero shows (of course), and our atty-tudes are much the same.

* I love Flash! The continual shifting of status quo probably puts off the mundies, but it keeps the show fresh.

* Arrow goes in circles for me, so I don't take it too seriously. I do enjoy it, though, and \it's my wife's favorite of the four.

* Supergirl is in transition, and I like that it's moving away from office hi-jinks and toward action/adventure. So i'm liking it better all the time.

* Legends is the weakest, and my wife lost interest when Captain Cold died. (Or should that be "died"?) I fell behind on it, because it's often pretty stupid. But I found I enjoyed it more when I watched it to laugh at how stupid it is. Now I'm a regular.

I think it's called the Arrowverse since that is the oldest of the four shows.

Ditto.

Flash and Supergirl are the ones I watch at my first opportunity. Both shows are constantly refreshing themselves and seem to have an endless supply of ideas. I also can't take my eyes off the unrelated Gotham show.

The replacement teammates all seem uninteresting to me, and unconvincing. The most annoying to me is the "Mr Terrific" character. One week he is a computer geek and suddenly he's a very physical superhero. In one episode he is hit in the face countless times by the same assailant and when we see him again out of costume he doesn't have a mark on him. The writing staff needs to be replaced on this one.

This is the last one we watch, sometimes accumulating two episodes. The characters and the actors portraying them are fine. The stories are often uncompelling. It's OK, but only because the characters are well-defined. I wish Captain Cold was still in it, but I think the actor may not have been available for weekly appearances. He is one of the leads in a show called Prison Break which is returning to TV.

On Tuesday, January 24, The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow both return with new episodes.

Legends will follow The Flash on Tuesday, moving from Thursday.

Okay, I haven't really been following Legends, but I watched tonight's ep while completing some other things.

They went to 1967, racing against the Legion of Doom, to find the spear* that pierced Jesus's side, in order to save the career of George Lucas.

No, really. That's the plot.

I have to give them some props for embracing the craziness. We're light years beyond going back in time to kill Hitler.

*Spear of Destiny/Spear of Longinus/Holy Lance. You know the one. Apparently, it alters reality in this DCU.
