  • Where'd you hear she was leaving? 24 (October) is the last issue solicited, right?

24 is the second part of what looks to be a multi-part story. I doubt she'd leave in the middle of that.

  • ...HERE !!!!!!!!!!! I thought:-) !!!!!!!!!

  • Not that I know of, but it's a big message board.

  • I know at one point she was being removed, but DC changed it's mind and that was a while ago.

  • ...Thank you .

Well, Secret Six closed with a promising multi-part story ending somewhat abruptly...

Firing Simone off Batgirl made no sense at all. Batgirl is a fringe Bat-title in a crowded field of fringe Bat-people.  There was no way DC was going to get more people reading it whilst putting some much lesser-known writer on the book.  Glad they saw the light in that case at least.

I've only read the first arc, but maybe a question is how much Gail wants to continue writing it indefinitely, or whether she sees an ending to her tenure coming up at all?  Sometimes writers just feel they've done all they can with a character.  But I don't see Gail letting go of Batgirl anytime soon.

  • I've been enjoying the stories so far and the art has been good. I hope she doesn't leave.

  • Any feeling of a definite arc wth these stories that might have a logical conclusion?

  • The upcoming arc is about Gordon hunting Batgirl down for the killing of James Jr. It can't run indefinitely -- James is alive, for one thing, and it seems pretty unsustainable long-term -- but there's definitely a good 4-6 months of drama that can be squeezed from the premise, if not more. Issue 24 will be part 2.

I don't think Gail is done with Batgirl yet... though who knows how her now non-exclusive career might turn, with her already writing Red Sonja and Lara Croft.

But frankly, with issue 4, I'm really most excited about The Movement. It's not as good as Secret Six yet, but it's got the most promise I've seen from a new team book in a while.

  • Actually, it turns out you're right, Emerkeith -- issue 25 is a fill-in, not written by Simone. It's the Zero Year tie-in, and someone else is handling it. All indications are that she'll be back for issue 26, though.
