  • My immediate family in NYC is fine, Luke. Once I realized that we weren't going to get terrible amounts of rain, I wasn't worried about flooding as I was on Sunday. We aren't near any rivers or the ocean. But I was sure that we would lose power due to the 80mph winds but that didn't happen. However my family in Long Island is without power. In fact they say 90% of LI is without electricity. We were very lucky!

Lower Manhatten is flooded. Subways and buses are out for days. New Jersey, Staten Island and Connecticut are disaster areas. Hurricane Satan is more like it!

Hope everyone else is doing well!

  • Lost a small tree, and one piece of siding is going to need a little repair work. No power outages, and the sump pump didn't die on me. Plus two days off work.

  • Here is a voice-to-text message Tracy recieved from Bob (The Baron):

"Hi tracey it's jim I just thought I'd let you know ... I'm in tech white places in fact no power to speak ... no internet no no on the phone too much because once a month on it and really tried to ... hey rick the I'll be at work tomorrow but I just want to let you know that everything here is here and we shall see what's going on ... hopefully I'll be online tomorrow if not not hope you're both well there take it easy bye."

TRANSLATION: He is staying with his cousins (in White Plains?). He's okay, but without power. He hopes to be back at work and online tomorrow.

  • Good to know.  Thanks for passing that along, Jeff.

  • Spoke with Bob on the phone last night. He was back home at that time, but with no power. He was considering going back to his cousin's house, still without power, too.

  • We did fine. Didn't lose power (BIG surprise) and only a few small branches down. (Northern MA, near the NH border). My parents lost power and they are a couple of miles from me.

  • Of course anything would beat last years Halloween storm. Lost power for over a week!

  • Figured I'd check in here now that I'm online at my mother in law's place. We've got no power, but are otherwise fine.

Good luck to everyone during the aftermath!

  • Not all of Connecticut is a disaster area. My wife's family (in Naugatuck) just lost power for about an hour.

  • This is why I don't ride roller coasters:
