  • Ah, shame.
  • That is so sad...I loved him as Fritz in the Swiss Family Robinson movie, which was constantly on at my house when I was a kid.
  • "Book 'im Danno. Murder One!" is an immortal phrase.

I'm only going by hazy childhood memories, but was Danno supposed to be an indigenous Hawaian? I had thought he was, but the obit doesn't mention it. A show with Hawai in the title, where both main stars are white guys doesn't seem right somehow...

And that's different than Tarzan, The Phantom, Sheena of the Jungle, Bomba the Jungle Boy and things of that ilk how, exactly?
  • At least 30 years of difference, for a start...

Their boss was Polynesian, wasn't he? Chap in a brightly coloured shirt. Unless my memory is dimming....

You must be thinking of another show. On the original series, Five-O, ostensibly, the state police force of Hawaii, was headed by Steve McGarrett (standard American white guy).

The second-in-command was Danny Williams (also standard American white guy).

    The remaining two members were:

Chin Ho Kelly (Chinese, or as may be inferred from his name, mixed Oriental/caucasian)
Kono (the only Hawaiian in the bunch).

As the head of Five-O, McGarrett reported directly to the governor, Paul Jameson (another standard American white guy).

In later seasons (up to the atrocious twelfth, and last, season), as members of Five-O left, they were replaced by men of Hawaiian or mixed Hawaiian ancestry. But Danny Williams was there, as McGarrett's number two, for all but the last season.
  • The Kellys got around a bit. :-)

The picture in my head is one from a TV listing magazine, so its ultra-unreliable.

The picture of the guy in the Hawaian shirt and the show with the Hawaian name probably got mixed up in my head over the years.
