Capullo will team up with visionary writer Jonathan Hickman to put Wolverine through the most brutal adventure of his life just in time for the character’s 50th anniversary. The series will also be available as Red Band Editions, bloodier and more violent than ever and polybagged for the protection of innocent eyes! To mark this monumental launch, best-selling cover artist extraordinaire Stanley “Artgerm” Lau has drawn a stunning variant cover. Sometimes I am truly embarrassed to be a comic book reader.
"Hellverine, why can't you be true?"
Rachel, much like Jean Grey herself, is probably best know by her own name, and always was.
She did take the codename "Prestige" for a while when she was part of the cast of "X-Men: Gold", circa 2017. And now presumably goes by "Askani", since maybe 2022-2023, when she co-starred in some books with Betsy Braddock, who now goes by "Captain Britain" (don't worry, Brian is fine, just going by Captain Avalon himself).
But those names don't really take. It has been a long while since she was called "Phoenix" as well.
Speaking of codenames, I don't expect to ever warm up to calling X-23 "Wolverine". That is just wrong on so many levels...

I am not trying to be facetious or funny. This is the straight of it:
The original X-23 was renamed "Wolverine" (don't ask me), presumed dead, found to be alive and aged some millenia or so, renamed Talon to avoid confusion with the other X-23 and with Wolverine, but then she died and may well not return (despite a promise that she would). There may or may not exist a psychic remnant of her in Synch still.
Another X-23 is however still alive, having been created by an unintentionally redundant ressurrection by the Five. She, too, has been renamed "Wolverine" for some reason that I can't begin to guess, and may not come to die for a long while still. Also, she has an adamantium skeleton that Talon never had.
I had forgotten about the second X-23. This one would not have experienced the zillion-year romance with Synch, so would she have any regard for him at all? Is he pining away? Or does he just commune with the dead one in his head?
I have wondered about the adamantium skeletons that all these revived Wolverines get. First, isn't that cruel? Second, how do they do it?
Also, other mutants who have sustained injuries or gone through changes should be in their original form when resurrected -- Hank McCoy should be in his pre-secondary mutation form, while Cyclops should have perfect control over his optic blasts. (I was always under the impression that he had sustained a head injury when he and Alex parachuted from the airplane where the Shi'Ar were kidnapping their parents, hence his lack of control. But I'm also aware of some story somewhere indicating a psychological block of some kind. If the latter is the primary problem, then I'm wrong.)
I'm sure this has been waved away somehow, but I'm curious.
There was some strong hinting some 10 to 20 years ago that Scott can control his blasts by force of will now. It just taxes him a lot.
During this Krakoa era that is ending, it has been implied that Proteus creates Adamantium and other oddities as part of the new bodies. He canonically created X-23 the second's skeleton as Adamantium-laced by misunderstanding how it was supposed to be.
Apparently even Karma is so used to her prostetics that chose to be ressurrected with them, which is the most surprising to me.
I have wondered about the adamantium skeletons that all these revived Wolverines get. First, isn't that cruel? Second, how do they do it?
As a reader who stopped buying X-Men books* (along with all other comics) just after Storm et al were introduced, my understanding is that removing and replacing the natural bones one at a time works with people who have a (robust) healing factor. Replacing the skull is more complicated. Is it cruel? Hell yes!
What about the bone marrow, which is necessary to create all types of blood cells? Do the existing blood cells, which normally die after three months, have a healing/immortality factor, or is the bone marrow inside the adamantium bones?
* When I returned to comics in 1989, I was aware of the sheer volume of characters and events that had accumulated in the X-books. It was so intimidating that I stayed away from the X-books completely.
AFAIAC, the one, true origin of Wolverine is Barry Windsor-Smith's Weapon X.
IIRC, at the time it was being published, Chris Claremont didn't like it because it didn't conform to what he had in mind. Know what I said, then and now? "Too bad! You had your chance." I know there have been stories since that have contradicted it. Apocryphal (again, AFAIAC).
