Here's an interesting piece from TheWrap, in the "what might have been" category: "Bob Hoskins Was ‘X-Men’ Writer's First Choice for Wolverine"
The X-Men writer they're speaking of is Chris Claremont, who was involved in a deal to make a movie of the property. His dream cast included Angela Bassett as Storm. The deal fell through, however.
That would have been a decided improvement, IMO.
