…until yesterday, that is.
I’m really enjoying Spidey, about Peter Parker’s high school years. Issue #2 began with an illustrated recap of #1, Spider-Man’s origin. It wasn’t until #3 I realized that the editor has chosen to run that every issue in lieu of a text page set-up. I thought that was pretty clever, because for #2 I thought it was simply part of the story.
I usually skip that page, but yesterday I realized the narrative text had been changed to set up the story of issue #6 specifically (much in the same way the opening narration of the Supergirl and Flash TV shows change from time to time.
Just running the origin/recap/set-up as a part of the comic itself is clever enough, but changing up the text to fit the current issues’ story is very new-reader friendly. I like Spidey more than any spider-Man title I have read in the past several years. I would recommend it to veteran readers such as ourselves, but I would recommend it in particular to new readers, especially young ones.

I haven't been reading it, but I have been enjoying the covers -- I don't know who's doing the art, but it's kind of a streamlined Romita look.
IIRC, Marvel was doing something like that for a short while on the inside front covers of comics. It was a good idea to help retain new readers. I guess they stopped doing it so they could sell valuable advertising space there. It also makes sense to have a removable page in the front of each issue so that when they are collected the redundancies don't drive the reader crazy.
I need to get caught up on this series. I have bought it from issue 1, but I think I've only read the first two issues. It's honestly not a matter of a lack of interest, but a lack of time. I can't wait until summer break, so that I can safely dedicate an hour each day to getting caught up on comics reading. Then I might get caught up--er, I should say--then I might put a dent in my gigantic stack of reading material.
I should add that I really love Arujo's art. He has come on to take over a few issues after Nick Bradshaw dropped off. I actually prefer Arujo.
...Could you post a couple of examples of these , please ? The original one , and a later example , and note what issues they were from .
