Glancing at the list of upcoming books I'm looking forward to, I notice something:

Bloodhound (5 issues)

Brain Boy

Kings Road (x issues?)

Resident Alien (3 issues)

Justice League 3000

Itty Bitty Hellboy (5 issues)

Forever Evil (7 issues)

Forever Evil: Rogues (5 issues)

Collider

Trillium? (8 issues)

Hinterkind

Grand Passion

Not a lot of DCU in there. There are the two Forever Evil miniseries, and there's the Justice League 3000 book... and that's it. But there are 5 Dark Horse titles, 3 Veritgo titles, and one Dynamite title (the only other person to break my $3.99 barrier for Dynamite was Kurt Busiek for Kirby Genesis, which admittedly didn't turn out well). There's bound to be some Image books I'm not thinking of right now, too -- Southern Bastards, for example, whenever that one debuts. But with so many of my DC books getting cancelled and not really replaced, this is starting to feel like a real sea change for me.

So... what new books are you excited for?

  • I would like to be excited by something...unfortunately nothing from Marvel and DC I'm afraid.

  • Yeah, less and less DC for me, and I haven't read much Marvel for a while. But Grand Passion -- a romance between a cop and a crook, by James Robinson -- sounds like it could be really good. And Jason Aaron's Southern Bastards -- "Dukes of Hazzard as done by the Coen Bros." is right up my alley!

  • I can't wait for Southern Bastards and Velvet.

  • Oh, right, Velvet, too! I knew there was another Image book to look forward to!

  • A thread tailored made for me as I keep a list of new series I am getting, so i don't forget to order them once Previews comes out,

First Trillium like Rob has above.

    Then:

Sidekick from Image. Another series from JMS that follows the "joke" sidekick Flyboy into darkness,

Howard Chaykin's Buck Rogers miniseries from Hermes looks really good.

Then we have Kiss Me Satan from Dark Horse. I am mainly getting for Juan Ferrerya's art, as I loved it on Colder earlier this year. I'm not really a horror fan, but if he is on the art I am definitely interested.

The new Batman Black & White series from DC.

Another Image comic: Rat Queens which is a fantasy series featuring 4 women characters: humar, dwarf, hobbit (halfling), and elf. Looks really fun.

Next is Zero also from Image which is a new spy comic

Finally Hit from Boom about LA cops in the 1950s sanctioning hit men to take out the worst criminal element there. As a fan of crime I am really looking forward to this.

  • Oh, I'm psyched for Zero, too -- especially since Secret Six has made me so impressed by Ales Kot.

  • Didn't they already announce a replacement for Ales Kot? Did he quit already?
