Fox has boughtThe Spectre, a drama series project based on the DC Comics superhero character co-created by Superman co-creator Jerry Siegel and Bernard Baily.

The rest of the story.

I'll watch if it ever gets aired.

  • Provided it does make it on the air, it would have been a perfect fit at The CW with all the other supernatural themed shows. Wonder why it got offered to Fox?

But how will the Spectre be presented/handled? Will they be using Corrigan or Allen? The article doesn't say.

  • Good question. I would expect the CW might have played up the aspect of Jim Corrigan longing to once again be a real man. On Fox? I don't know. The Michael Fleischer "do weird things to the villain and kill him" approach? (I tell you, the one where The Specter turned the villain into a wooden sculpture -- and then sawed it into a stack of plates -- classic!)
  • That was the first Spectre story I ever read, Clark.  I was eight years old, and it scared me to death.  Not long after, I read the Spectre story reprinted in Jules Fieffer's "The Great Comic Book Heroes" and got hooked.

  • ...Will they use Carly Simon's " Vengance " ( " she said - that's the law ! " ) as the theme ?

Mebbe in an el kewoollssville , daddio , trip-hop/downtempo remix , for those youth dems ?

  • The CW was already busy developing another supernatural DC character.

With both the Spectre and Deadman in development, I wonder what happened to the proposed Raven series that was in the works a few months ago?

  • ...........Nevermore !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ( I HAD to say it . May Rama Krusha forgive me :-) ! )
  • I heard about the Deadman possibility, but in both cases (like the Raven series) I'll believe it when they actually put it on the air.

Meanwhile, as to Deadman himself, how would they do that? The Quantum Leap approach, where everyone thinks they're dealing with the real individual when the audience sees the actor playing Deadman, ala Scott Bakula as Sam Beckett? Or the Mission: Impossible approach, where the guest star pretends to be the master of disguise character (Martin Landau or Leonard Nimoy) pretending to be the guest star's character?

  • Perhaps this should more appropriately be called the Heaven Can Wait approach.  :)
