Picked up a bunch of books, but have only read a few of them so far.

OMAC introduces a new version of Lashina, though she's never called by that name. But she's tied to the Female Furies, and mentions "Granny" and "that black-haired bitch who leads us" -- probably an indication that Barda hasn't yet left the Female Furies for Scott Free. But OMAC is somehow tied to the Fourth World -- part of what makes him and Brother Eye possible is a Mother Box.

Men of War concludes the Rock story for now.. though it certainly leaves plenty to be explored elsewhere. The backup (by John Arcudi and Richard Corben) is a haunted Gettysburg reenactment that seems more at home in Weird War tales than this title.

Batwing moved the story along -- but I have to admit, as good-looking as the art is, I followed the action better during the guest artist's issues. Also, it felt like more happened in those issue. So: Less pretty art, more functional art, please!

Also got Fatale, Dark Horse Presents, Action Comics and Swamp Thing, but haven't read 'em yet.

  • I’ve fallen into the habit of reading the week’s new comic books on Saturday morning, saving weekday evenings for whatever comic strip collection I’m in the middle of at the time (currently, still Blondie vol. 2, with Li’l Abner vol. 4 waiting on deck).

I’ve decided to stop reading OMAC until the final issue ships, then read the whole thing in one sitting.

I was surprised to see The Twelve #9 finally ship after all these months (years?), but I’ll most likely likewise wait for the conclusion to read the whole thing at once. Either that, or I’ll certainly need to refresh the first eight issues in my mind before moving forward.

Archie Archives vol. four shipped yesterday, too, as well as a collection of Simon & Kirby’s romance comics.

I’ve got my weekend reading cut out for me!

  • THIS weekend?  There's The Woman in Black, a new Downton Abbey, AND the Super Bowl.  No time for reading!  ;)

  • Looks like I'm getting my wish -- Marcus To is the new Batwing artist, starting with issue 9!

  • Oh no! I hope Ben Oliver will be drawing something else in the DCU! I love his work.

  • Are you going to the Superbowl, Doc?

I assume you've been downtown, to the NFL Experience, etc.

  • I plan to re-read The Twelve 1-8 as well.  On top of all the other things that I plan to read or re-read.

The Twelve is one of those abandoned projects that I eagerly hoped would be completed one day so I'm especially glad to see these last issues arrive.
