I missed Jeff's post last month as I was really rushing to get it turned in. Anyway here is what I have for comics and other miscellany coming out in April.
- I get really stoked seeing the offerings for FCBD.
- Looks like Dark Horse is going to squeeze out a few more Star Wars minis before the license is gone. Good for them.
- Sorry DC a weekly Batman series just isn't in the cards for me right now.
- I never thought I would see the day that Aquaman headlines 2 series.
- Sinestro's first name is Thaal?
- A 24 comic for the fans of the TV show.
- Going to have to pass on the Liefeld cover on the T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agents
- Anyone remember that one issue of Dream Police from the Icon imprint at Marvel? Well it is a series at Image now.
- Also, why offer us 2 covers for it, and only show us one?
- I'm tired of the "Nothing will ever be the same!" Selling point for a comic.
- Original Sin starring Nova and The Watcher? I will quadruple pass on this.
- I will hold off on the new Iron Fist series for now. The last was so great it will be real hard to live up to that one.
- Is Todd Nauck going to be drawing 2 series? Invicinble Universe and X-Men Legacy?
- That look on Captain Marvel's face for issue 2 creeps me out.
- The first issue of Moon Knight hasn't even come out yet, so it is a bit of hyperbole to call it "the best new comic of 2014."
- I predicted Avatar to fail like 5 years ago. Even though their comics don't interest me, I'm glad they are still around.
- No idea how Dynamite got to issue 100 for Warlord of Mars.
- I guess Shadowman is getting a 3 issue mini for a new #1 on an ongoing.

Behold! The unbeatable selling power of metallic nipple-cups!
This is truly the Marvel Age of meaningless mendacious grandiloquence, True Believer!
(Remember, lying is OK if you call it 'marketing'!)
BURNE HOGARTH: Interesting that two different BH Tarzan collections are solicited the same month from two different publishers. I’m going to pass of the strip collection because I’ve already got that stuff. I’m going to pass on the novel adaptation, too, because one can read the origin story only so many times before reaching the point of overload. Comparison/contrast is one thing, but I think I’m good.
BIG DAMN SIN CITY: I had been buying HC collected editions of the various limited series, but at some point Dark Horse either stopped making them, or I lost track of which ones I needed, or something. This might be a good opportunity to get the whole thing between two covers. I know Frank Miller has fallen out of favor with many, but good comics is good comics. Contact me if you’re interested in obtaining any of the previous individual collections.
LONE WOLF & CUB: Goseki Kojima has written a sequel to LW&C!?
JIM STERANKO’S SHIELD ARTIST’S EDITION: I know these are beyond the price range of most collectors (myself included), but you’ve gotta admit (if you’ve ever seen one out of its shrink wrap), they sure are purty! This series did not win the 2013 Cappy for best collection; I fault myself for not lobbying harder. So far, 2014 has already seen the release of a second edition of John Romita’s Spider-Man, and upcoming releases include Basil Wolverton (FEB), Jack Kirby’s New Gods (MAR), and Charles Schultz’ Peanuts (APR). WOW!
FRANKENSTEIN ALIVE, ALIVE!: If you can’t afford an IDW Artist’s Edition, this is the next best thing. I don’t know what the reason for the long delay between issue #2 and #3, but this is another one I need to remember to put in the “memory box” for the 2014 Cappies.
JUDGEMENT DAY (JOE ORLANDO): Another one of my nominations for Best Reprint that didn’t win is the EC Archives series (although it did win, and deservedly so, in 2012). 2014 has already seen the release of “Zero Hour” (featuring the work of Jack Kamen) and “Sucker Bait” (featuring the work of Graham Ingles). These three alone make the series nomination eligible for 2014, and who knows what the rest of the years has in store?
CLOCKWORK GAME: Don’t miss the latest graphic novel from my friend Jane Irwin (she of Vogelein fame).
BUCK ROGERS: Man, there’s a lot of BR product available these days! The latest offering is Sunday comic strips by Murphy Anderson.
DOCTOR WHO: Titan Comics has finally gotten around to releasing the Ninth Doctor comics from Doctor Who Monthly. There were relatively few of these produced because Christopher Eccleston assayed the role for such a short time, but fans and collectors have been clamoring for a collection of these stories for a long time.
TRACY: My wife will be pleased to see a new volume of Little Orphan Annie and a new Tinkerbell graphic novel.
