For comics coming out in March. Let's get to it

1. I don't usually like doing this until I get comic on my recent comics purchases, but I had to get on the ball.

2. I was on the fence about Dark Horse's Ragemoor series until I saw that Richard Corben is doing the art. Now I picked whatever side is "yes"

3. I am on one of my Dark Horse highs right now with a number of miniseries that I am buying. They have the most ebb and flow with me.

4. I liked Ann Nocenti's run on DD back in the day I am going to give her Green Arrow a try.

5. So Harley Quinn is getting a new origin?

6. Will Hawk and Dove both written and drawn by Rob Liefeld ship on time?

7. I see the first round of hardcovers for the New 52 are coming out. (Unless I missed them last month :) )

8. After laying low for a little while Vertigo is coming out with a ton of new material. I'm glad to see it, even if my bank  account won't

9. I'm really happy to see another round of Rocketeer Adventures coming out.

10. 44 pages, no ads for $2.99?! Saga is getting my money, plus it's a new Bryan K Vaughn series.

11. Am I the only one who sees Bloodstrike and sees and amalgamation of different character's costumes?

12. A new Zodiac for the Avengers to fight! I am mildly interested.

13. There are two very weird (to me) renderings of Colossus on these covers this month.

14. Another "Classified" poster from Marvel. When will they learn? Unless they sell a ton of these...

15. I am down to three ongoing titles from Marvel. Kind of sad.

16. I see that Dynamite is trying out a Bionic Woman series as well.

17. My favorite book title: The Little Book of Big Breasts

18. The "Hawkeye on Sky-Cycle" statue can be yours for the low-low price of $459.00. Plus there is a $200 action figure

Until next month, kids!

  • Regarding your question about Hawk & Dove, apparently that series has been cancelled.

I don’t recall seeing Rocketeer Adventures (I use previews mainly for higher end pre-orders, not items I pull off the shelf), but I’m up for it. Speaking of high-end pre-orders…

Remember how I commented that Dark Horse is always feast or famine with me, and last month was famine? Check out this feast: Archive Archives 5, Space Family Robinson $, Turok 10 and Eerie 10!

Good to see DC release another Green Lantern Archive; I’ve got gaps to fill until the beginning of the O’Neil/Adams era.

I’ll probably have to re-read Secret Society of Super Villains vol. 1 before I read Secret Society of Super Villains vol. 2.

I have only just finished reading all five volumes of Berke Breathed’s Bloom County, so I’m ready for the Outland Collection.

Funny Stuff by Frank Frazetta: This one is accompanied by a quote from Frazetta in which he states he’s better known for his gory stuff, but humor is where it’s at for him. I know he ghosted Li’l Abner for a time, but I never would have guessed! Still, I’ve enjoyed the other recent Frazetta comic book collections and am looking forward to this one as well.

Archie’s Sunday Finest: There is certainly no shortage of collections of vintage Archie material. I’m happy with the comic book archives and the daily comic strips, but there’s no way I can pass up these Sundays!

Speaking of comic strip collections, second editions of Buz Sawyer, Steve Canyon and H=Johnny Hazard are all solicited in this catalogue, as well as the first collection of Sunday Funnies (the first issue of which shipped yesterday and which I’ll have more to post about elsewhere).

I gave a pass to Marvel Firsts: 1960s because I have that stuff a zillion times over. I similarly gave a pass to the 1970s because I have most of that stuff, too. But now that there’s going to be a second volume, the two together present a comprehensive look at where marvel was in that decade. Plus, there’s enough of things I don’t have reprinted in the two volumes to make the purchase worthwhile.

Travis, a suggestion: Could you perhaps number these discussions by catalogue number for ease of reference going forward? I often refer to initial comments I made the original solicitations in the “Thoughts” discussions after the item eventually ships, and they’re become increasingly difficult to search. For example, this one would be “Thoughts while Filling Out Previews #280.” Just a suggestion.

  • So are you getting all of those strip collections? If so, my mind boggles.

As to your suggestion. I will do it with the caveat of if I remember. And I can at least edit the title, so there we go.

  • Thanks!

Yes, I am reading all of those comic strip collections. My New Years resolution for last year was to keep up with all the collections I'm current on (which I did manage to do), and this year's is to get caught up on all the ones I've fallen behind. So far, so good, but just simply keeping up with all the new ones is very time consuming! Great stuff, though. Great stuff.

  • I’ll probably have to re-read Secret Society of Super Villains vol. 1 before I read Secret Society of Super Villains vol. 2.

I'm still hoping for a softcover version.

  • Yeah I don't think I can go in for a second volume of SSoSV, at full price anyways. It's a fun read, but also kind of a mess.
