LEGACY by John Fogerty was released on August 22 but I missed it. I caught a performance on TV last night, however.
This has come about because Fogerty now owns the rights to his CCR catalog after a long legal battle and the 20-track collection includes new versions of songs such as ‘Proud Mary’ and ‘Bad Moon Rising’ to ‘Fortunate Son’ and ‘Have You Ever Seen the Rain’.

The Creedence/Fogerty story is pretty sad. CCR was one of the most popular bands of 1970 and then just two years later it was all over. Fogerty and the band, being young and naive, were taken advantage of by their record label which set up the decades long legal battle. Fogerty made a huge mistake by giving up the rights to his songs in order to be released from his recording contract.
I went to my LRS today to see about that John Fogerty album* when I saw this new "Wings" collection. I didn't actually buy it because I don't need yet another Wings anthology, but if you don't have one, this one, currated by Sir Paul himself, would be a nice one to have.
*Full disclosure: I wasn't actually listening to it yesterday when I said I was.
RELEASED YESTERDAY: Pink Floyd Wish You Were Here 50th Anniversary
The best things about the 2020s (perhaps the only good thing...?) is that, every couple of months, the 50th anniversary of one classic album or abother rolls around. This week it's Pink Floyd's Wish You Were Here. Here's the cover you remember:

When I was in college in the mid-70's a couple of buddies and I attended a stereo and hi fi show at Cobo Hall in Detroit. One of the exhibitors, a speaker manufacturer, played the Wish You Were Here album to demonstrate their products. I'll never forget how awesome it sounded in that specially designed listening space. It was LOUD yet crystal clear.
This is an EP (five songs). The musicianship is impeccable (as expected), but Steven Tyley shares the vocals with the lead singer of Yungblud, so it doesn't necessarily sound like "Aerosmith" per se. (This is their first new music in 12 years.) One of the songs is a 2025 mix of "Back in the Saddle" which reminds me of the experience of listening to the 1986 version of "Walk This Way" for the first time.

Getting the rights to his music back has rejuvenated him. Watch these clips from The Late Show with Stephen Colbert:
INTERVIEW (approximately 12 minutes)
PERFORMANCE (approximately 5½ minutes)

After hearing about the passing of Jimmy Cliff, that is who I am listening to. Currently: "Many Rivers to Cross"
Today is the 60th anniversary of Gamera's first appearance, so here is his song, with a reterospecitve of his Showa Era foes:
