1. Bruce Wayne - I am making the bold assumption that Bruce knows that he is Batman.
  2. Alfred Pennyworth knew, so I'm assuming that the niece (or whatever relation she is) that they're bringing in to hold his place until they bring him back knows as well.
  3. All of the Robins - Dick Grayson, Jason Todd, Tim Drake, Stephane Brown, Damian Wayne and Old UncleTom Cobbleigh and all know.
  4. Barbara Gordon knows.
  5. As does Cassandra Cain.
  6. I'm pretty sure that the Signal Duke Thomas knows as well.
  7. I'm not sure about the Helena Bertinelli Huntress. Maybe, maybe not.
  8. The Helena Wayne Huntress that was reintroduced in a JSA story a couple of years ago and then shipped off to whatever Thirty-First Century was in continuity at the time and promptly forgotten knew. While we're in the Thirty-First Century, whose secret IDs are public knowledge by then? 'Cause maybe all the  Legionnaires know or maybe they don't.
  9. Does the Kate Kane Batwoman know? Maybe, I dunno.
  10. Kathy Kane is still in continuity, but I don't know if she ever knew. That goes for Betty Kane and Bette Kane, assuming that they were separate people.
  11. I don't know that it's ever been established, but I feel that Jim Gordon must know. He'd have to be a pretty sh*tty detective not to have figured it out after spendiing so much  time with both Bruce and Batman.
  12. Catwoman knows.
  13. There was a Penguin mini a few years back that established that Oswald knows, but keeps quiet about it owing to a deal that he has with Bats.
  14. Do Ra's and/or Talia know? Maybe, but I don't know for sure.
  15. Does the Joker know? I think not, although there have been some ambiguous scenes over the years. I think that the current notion is that the Joker doesn't care about the face behind the mask.
  16. Superman knows, as do Lois and Jon.  Surely Kara must know, too. I'm a little sketchier on this, but I think Pa Kent may even know.
  17. There was a comic a few weeks back where Bats and Luthor teamed up to investigate a possible Apokoloptian threat to Earth, and at one point, Lex called Batman "Bruce", so either he knows, or he was referencing the old Monty Python "Australian Philosophers" sketch.
  18. As for the other Leaguers, I figure that the Old Guard - Diana, J'onn, Barry, Hal, Arthur, Ollie, Dinah, Ray and Zatanna - know, but not all  nne thousand people that have been in the League over the years. Is Ralph still dead in current continuity? He would've known.
  19. I assume that Carter and Kendra know, but their continuity is so screwy that it's hard to be 100% sure.
  20. Similarly, with the Titans, I figure  that anybody that knows that Dick Grayson was Robin/Nightwing woudn't have to be Sherlock Holmes to work out that Bruce Wayne was Batman. So, that would include Donna, Roy, Garth, Wally, Raven, Starfire, Victor and Garfield but probably not everyone that was ever a Titan.
  21. Of the Young Justice types, I figure that Conner and Cassie would know, but again, not necessarily everyone that was ever on the team.
  22. As for the Society, the Spectre would know, because he knows everything. As far as  I know, Power Girl retains her memories from her life on the original Earth-Two, so she would've known that her world's Batman was Bruce Wayne and so would be able to work out that the Earth-Zero Batman was Bruce Wayne as well.
  23. If inter-company crossovers count, then Deadpool may know. Actually, given that she comes from an Earth where super-heroes are fictional, Gwenpool may know, too.

So, who did  I miss?

  • 11. I like to think that Commissioner Gordon knows, but I can't think of a story that established that in canon.

    14. R'a's a'l G'h'u'l and Talia definitely know. (The was the whole point of his first story.)

    20. Agreed.

    • 14. R'a's a'l G'h'u'l and Talia definitely know. (The was the whole point of his first story.)

Ah, interesting. I don't believe that I've ever read that one.

  • Superboy-Prime, of course.

Deathstroke.  Back in the mid-1980s it was admitted in the letters column of Tales of the Teen Titans (#53 IIRC) that "we must assume that Slade knows, or could guess, that Bruce Wayne is Batman".

    15. As of the aftermath of Jason Todd's death Joker falls awfully short of telling Batman outright that he has guesses his secred identity and does not care.  I think that is still true.

I'm not sure of what is the current status of Leslie Thompkins, or even if she has been shown to exist in the current continuity.  Same for Lucius and Lucas Fox (Batwing).

Deadman used to know, and probably still does.  I assume but do not know that Phantom Stranger knows.

    11. One of the high points of "No Man's Land" was a story where Batman wants to reveal his secret ID to Jim Gordon and Jim barely manages to convince him otherwise, both by saying that it does not matter and that he may well have guessed already. Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight #125, January 2000 cover date.  I love this quote:

" If I wanted to know who you were, I could have discovered it ten years ago. And for all you know, maybe I did. Maybe I do. "

You will notice that in Earth-One continuity the same applied to Batgirl's secret id.  It makes a lot of sense that Jim will know that Bruce is Batman and do the utmost to not think much of it.  No point in making himself a target.

Oh, of course there is Bat-Mite. I have to assume that Nite-Mite ("Dyxl ") too. Mxyzptlk. Bizarro and Batzarro.

    • Cool. Interesting stuff, Luis. A number of characters that I hadn't thought about.

  • In current continuity, Joe Chill knows, but he's also dead, so....

We can assume the Guardians of Oa or at least, the ones who have a connection to earth, know.

    • I forgot about the Guardians.

  • In the fairly recent Batman #7, the incarcerated / medically suspended Joker (officially known as "Patient Ten") calls Batman "Bruce" at the end of the issue.

Also, Verity Pennyworth is Alfred's great-niece.

      Interesting.

      Ah, good to know.

  • How much of the original Outsiders continuity survives to this day?  They interacted with Alfred, so I assume that they learned at some point.

Who knows how the 1970s stories with Captain Comet weathered the several continuity storms since... I assume that he knew back then.  It would be very easy to decide that he does not know now, what with having been killed and reborn at least once between continuity-realigning events.

The original Terra must have known.  Presumably the later ones did not.

I think Zatanna knows, but I don't think I can support that belief.  Firestorm may know, but I can't really picture anyone confiding that much on him.

Jimmy Olsen knew in the 1960s, but probably not now - or even post-Crisis.

I think Tom King's Batman run established that Lois Lane knows.

Didn't Grant Morrison's JLA have Bruce reveal the secret to Steel (John Henry) and Kyle Rayner?

    • Damn it, I completely forgot the Outsiders! I am filled with shame.

Didn't Grant Morrison's JLA have Bruce reveal the secret to Steel (John Henry) and Kyle Rayner?

Could be. I don't think that I read much of that run.
