First Miles Morales gets a series with alternate versions of himself, then Gwen Stacy got one, and now, Jessica Jones is getting one.  I don't follow comics publicity that much outside of what I read here, but I'm assuming that all this is in aid of pushing the upcoming Doctor Strange picture, and I gotta say, it all feels like a bit much to me.

  • Marvel always had a multiverse since the Fantastic Four started going through dimensions. There are numerous examples like Counter-Earth, Earth-A, Earth-S (Squadron Supreme), the myriad of What If scenarios, Exilesthe M2U (A-Next, Spider-Girl), Earth-X and, of course, the Ultimate universe.

  • True, but it seems to me that they're really emphasizing it right now.  I don't recall a time when they had three separate series with characters meeting alternate versions of themselves going at the same time.

  • I think it has a lot to do with the success of the Spider-verse movie. Because of that, Miles and Spider-Gwen gained a great deal in popularity, so Marvel's attempting to cash in on all of those casual comics readers who want more afterwards.

Jessica is popular too because of the Netflix show.

  • Huh. I thought "Spider-verse" and "Gwen-verse" had something to do with poetry.

  • Funny, I'm almost ignoring the MCU, but I've seen Spider-Man: Into the Spider-verse. I would definitely recommend it.
