  • I'll be picking up Occupy Riverdale, as well.

And hopefully, snagging the most recent issue of Castle Waiting, since I'm in the city for a few days. It slipped by me in the last month or so.

As for BPRD, I'm so far behind on those, it's not funny. I'm reading the big hardcover collections of Plague of Frogs, and haven't started volume 3 yet. But I'm excited for the rest of that series, and then catching up with Hell on Earth whenever they publish that in a similar format.

  • Wandering Sensei said:

BPRD HELL ON EARTH EXORCISM #2 (OF 2) I know I keep harping on art, but so much of it is just so good. Cameron Stewart really cranked his skills up a notch or three with the previous issue on this one. I love how BPRD doesn't go for the flash-in-the-pan artists, but seeks out high quality artists who have proven themselves for some time now. Highly recommended if you haven't read this one.

Mike Mignola talked about this explicitly on one of the panels at HeroesCon. He said they pick their artists very carefully. They don't have to have the "house style," but they have to be able to actually draw. Mignola said lots of the well known superhero artists wouldn't be able to cut it. They not only have to be capable of creating monsters, but they also have to be willing to accurately render military equipment and such.

Mostly trade waits. Scalped is already on order, and I ordered Underwater Welder for the library.

  • WOLVERINE AND X-MEN #14 — The first few AvX tie-ins in this book were really well done, but the last couple haven't appealed to me as much. Don't know where this one will fall...

I feel the same way about the tie-ins for both Wolverine & X-Men and Uncanny X-Men.  I suspect the change occurred when the story shifted from Avengers vs. X-Men to the new Phoenix Force Five.  That story angle hasn't grabbed me at all and doesn't seem to have as much room for interesting tie-in possibilities.

  • URGENT SHIPPING UPDATE ON BATMAN INCORPORATED #3

Out of respect for the victims and families in Aurora, Colorado DC Entertainment has made the decision to postpone the release of BATMAN INCORPORATED #3 for one month because the comic contains content that may be perceived as insensitive in light of recent events. We request that retailers do not make this issue available as previously solicited. Its new on sale date is August 22, 2012.

This includes all versions of BATMAN INCORPORATED #3, previously set to go on sale 7/25 and arriving at retail on Tuesday 7/24 and Wednesday 7/25:

MAY 120220 BATMAN INCORPORATED #3 MAY 120221 BATMAN INCORPORATED #3 VARIANT EDITION MAY 120222 BATMAN INCORPORATED #3 BLACK & WHITE VARIANT EDITION MAY 120223 BATMAN INCORPORATED #3 COMBO PACK

Please note that the Digital version of this title will also be postponed.

Retailers will receive a credit for invoiced copies with their 08/01/2012 invoices from Diamond.

Please do not make this issue available at this time. Please hold the copies. If you have any questions, please contact Vince Letterio at DC Entertainment.

  • OH! Then I will also be grabbing Occupy Riverdale. Thanks for the heads-up, Doc!

  • Occupy Riverdale starts in Archie this week.  I'll be getting that plus Superman Family Adventures, 20th Century Boys, and Batman Inc.

  • AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #690 — I'm not as excited about the current Lizard storyline as I've been about previous issues in this book.

ANGEL & FAITH #12 — I continue to be pleasantly surprised by this book. I'm not entirely sure Christos Gage knows how to write a bad comic.

FLASH #11 — It literally took me until just a couple days ago to finish issue #10; Francis Manapul's Art works REALLY well with this, but as soon as a guest artist came in, it really showed the weaknesses in the story. We'll see where I'm left feeling after this issue...

    MANHATTAN PROJECTS #5 — ...I still haven't read issue #4 yet.

NATIONAL COMICS ETERNITY #1 — Maybe. I like the creative team, but I'm already over-budget for the month, so I really shouldn't. But then on the other hand, I'm already over budget, so what's one more? :-/

NEW DEADWARDIANS #5 — See Manhattan Projects #5. Slacker Alan is a slacker.

WOLVERINE AND X-MEN #14 — The first few AvX tie-ins in this book were really well done, but the last couple haven't appealed to me as much. Don't know where this one will fall...

  • Speaking of digital comics, Comixology has a weekend sale on the Scott Pilgrim books, $3.99 each.
