Back on June 6 (page 24 of this thread), Tracy posted a picture of our new bookshelf. I have decided to make it a "Marvel" shelf. It has taken me more than a month to decide which books to shelve on it and in what order, but I finally finished. Yes, there are books behind the wooden doors as well. One thing I hadn't considered is that the weight of the books makes the doors a bit difficult to slide. OTOH, the very presence of the doors will keep the top shelf from bowing over time. When I tried to fit the glass doors (middle left), I found that the weight of the books on the top left shelf prevented me from doing so and I had to unload it. Then, after fitting the doors and reloading the shelf, I realized I had one of the doors in backwards and had to do it again!
I used to feel that way until Marvel unveiled their "MONSTER" editions. Last month when I re-read The Eternals I actually opted to read the omnibus because the MONSTER was too unwieldy and I couldn't help but think how (relatively) light and easy it was to read the omni.
The Eternals
Jack Kirby's The Eternals is a series I honestly enjoy and appreciate more every time I read it. I know I read it circa 2004-2005 and I think I've re…
Referring back to photos, in the one of Jeff and me posted on June 22, I don’t look as bad as I thought I did. I bought that cane (my first) the day before after landing on my butt on concrete the day before that. I thought I was doing fine until early Sunday morning following our visit. My left leg had become so painful that I couldn’t stand on it and had to go to the ER. The ER doc determined that it was some kind of soft tissue injury that would just have to heal itself. And it has. In a couple of days, I’m going to a county fair. I plan to take the cane to be safe in case the ground is uneven, but I don’t need to use it normally.
In my headcanon, Superman and Batman are friends. Sure, they may quarrel sometimes, but down deep, they like, admire and trust one another. The relationship doesn't work any other way for me.
You wanna explore what it would be like if they hated and distrusted each other? Go write an Earth-Three story. That's what Earth-Three is for, IMO.
So, I've had an external drive for the last 10-15 years attached to my PC computer, which has been my workhorse for WFH and the website and everything else. It's been failing in recent years, so I've cleared almost everything off the PC and put it on the external drive, just in case the main computer fails.
The other day there was a brief power failure. When I logged on, the external drive was inaccessible. I attached it to a different computer and ... well, the last 15 years or so of stuff I'd saved wasn't there. Instead was a bunch of folders I'd never seen before and important-looking hierarchy crap.
I may have lost everything I've been saving for decades, including my book and all research.

I'm sorry, I know that they're really convenient and space saving but I never liked the omnibus! Too heavy and too awkward to read!

That bookshelf is so dense, it's gonna catch smaller bookshelves and pull them into its orbit.
