He was at the Midtown Comics near Times Square when I was in there on Saturday. I remember thinking, "Here I am, who's never read a single thing of his, and I bet there's a dozen guys on the board who'd love to meet him."

I haven't met him, but I did hear him in a small panel, where he came across as a very nice guy. Not at all full of himself, just an artist doing the work. I would also recommend Palomar very highly. I know you read lots of manga, Baron, so the B&W art wouldn't be a barrier for you.
Yup, Palomar is good reading, In fact, pretty much anything by Los Bros Hernandez is good reading.
I'm honestly surprised we don't spend more time talking about their comics, as they've put out some of the most consistently high quality comics of the last 30 years.
