First IDW introduced the “Artist Edition”.
Then they added the “Artifact Edition”.
Soon they will be adding the “Artisan Edition”.
In October, IDW will release Jack Kirby: Pencils and Inks. It will include three key first issues—The Demon #1, Kamandi #1 and OMAC #1—with each page presented twice, one pencils only and the other inked, side by side. Honestly, how cool is that?
HC – 160 pages - $50

What size will this book be? Will it be as big as the Artist Editions?
No, smaller. 8" x 12". OTOH, it's not nearly as expensive.
Sounds good.
Sounds like a bargain!
Yeah, I'm going to buy it for sure. Those three Jack Kirby Omnibus Editions were my first three purchased about five years ago now. No regrets!

This was originally solicited for October 19, but now looks as if it's going to ship this week (December 7), seven weeks late. Better late than never!
This may sound like a dumb question, but how can anyone reprint the original pencils if the pages were inked?
Either they made photostats of the original pages before they were inked, or the inker did his work on a clear plastic overlay -- or both.
Most of Kirby's 1970s DC work was inked on a velum overlay, not the artboard itself.
Quite cool! I'll keep an eye out for it!
