The "Iron Lady" of British politics has died this week.
It's got me thinking.... how many times was she depicted in American Comic books?
We've looked at how often American Presidents were shown, but how about Thatcher?

This is probably my favourite.
I got it from this page, which Bleeding Cool must have had on standby, in case of the eventuality, judging by the unseemly haste with which they got it up.
I can't recall her being depicted in Hellblazer, but she surely was mentioned there all the time.
It's not comics-related, but Thatcher had cultural impact in interesting places.

Nice to see being as thick as a plank is no bar to working for the BBC. Said spokesman must have gone to the right school.
...That revamp of Dan Dare by ----- Alan Grant ????????? - got published IN an American edition by Fantagraphics IIRC , so that qualifies , it was one long " That bloody woman !!!!!!!!! " dis-ola toward Maggie's haid , tho it perhps avoided using here neme..." DARE " it was called .
It might have only seen publication , especially with Gary's gang , after she was pushed out for Major ?????????
Hellblazer and Dare are on that Bleeding Cool page I linked to.
...I remember one of those not-on-TV era BBC Books Doctor Who novels have a bit of interior monologue by a supporting character - I think a semi-bad guy/a cop-guard for the villianous organization ? - where he was sitting in the bar at Los Angeles International Airport and thinking " Dad was sure proud of his union card - Thatcher , you destroyed the working classes " or like that .
BTW , I also recall , in that era's Who novels , the Brigadier being brought on with a note that he was ' one of the last remaining One Nation Tories " - which were ??? Moderate/liberal Tories , sort of like " Rockefeller Republicans " here in approximately ( I asusme) the same post-WWII-ish quarter-centuryish ? (I guess " Eisenhower Republicans " and " Main Street Republicans " were a bit to the right of that/closer to the GOP's mainstream...)

Thanks for posting the link. Amazing, it took me 2 weeks to notice she's gone. I never knew much about her back then, but from everything I've read in the last couple years, my thoughts are... "Good riddance".
By the way, I ADORE Bonnie Langford!
: )
What I think of that woman isn't fit to be published here, but it's a matter of record that she didn't think much of me!
