I know a lot of the members here are also on Facebook. What I wonder is this: Who are your favorite comic-book professionals you follow on Facebook?

I'm not talking about the hottest creators, but the comic pros who actually make it fun for you to see what they are up to or engage their fans on a regular basis.

I'll list mine in a follow up to this post!

  • A few of my favorites:

Sergio Cariello (Upcoming work on G.I. Joe; also Action Bible, Marvel, CrossGen) https://www.facebook.com/SergioCariello Sergio is very chatty, talks up his books and enjoys talking about the craft of comics.

Tom Beland (True Story Swear to God, Fantastic Four Isla De Meurte, various writing) https://www.facebook.com/tombelandpr Beland is funny, offers lots of snapshots of his work, posts con sketches and likes to grouse about the 49ers.

David Marshall (Indy artist with a few Marvel/DC assignments) https://www.facebook.com/illdave While Dave doesn't show us much of his work, he does talk a lot about the industry. He's left leaning and posts a lot of interesting articles

Jarod Rosello (Indy artist with a few books) https://www.facebook.com/jarod.rosello I met Jarod at a con and enjoyed talking with him. He's affable, humble and has some crazy-cool ideas for short, cartoony comics!

Tom Stillwell (Indy writer and a member of this here forum!) https://www.facebook.com/TomStillwell Tom promotes his work on Facebook, of course, but he also talks candidly about his convention experiences and his efforts to break into the biz. Plenty of interesting links, too!

  • ...Jay Lynch (1960s UGs OG)

  • John Rozum: He's pretty hilarious. His Xombi made me a fan of this writer for life.

Rob Liefeld: Yes, this guy went on Twitter meltdown last year, pretty much burning bridges everywhere. But he is fun to follow nonetheless. Still seems like a great guy. Always posting about promotions for Deadpool and his current work.

  • A few of mine before I beat feet out of here:

Kurt Busiek: He isn't just about pimping his own stuff.

Steve Rude: Great just to look at the pictures

Christian Benarek: He used to run Silent Devil, now he does a lot of digital comics.

    More to come!

I'll definitely have to check out Sergio Cariello's page, LJ. I loved a lot of his 90s work.

  • I've just started following writer Steve Niles, and it's been fun so far. He posts about his own work, but also other things (mainly horror related). He does seem to actively interact with his followers, too.

  • Steve Niles is a regular convention-attendee in this area. He's a nice guy and has a lot of interesting books. I will have to look him up.

Another person I like is Greg LaRocque, who used to pencil Flash. I don't think he's mostly active through Kickstarter projects now. He also posts a lot of studio photography he takes, including some cosplayers. https://www.facebook.com/greglarocque

  • Oh, I should also mention that I follow Josh Flanagan. He's from the iFanboy podcast, and he posts pretty regularly. I didn't think of him at first because he normally doesn't post about comics.

  • I follow Kurt Busiek, Paul Levitz, Christian Benarek, Tom Stillwell.

Also Leonard O'Grady and Neil Googe, but they're actual, in-the-flesh pals, so I'm not sure if they count.

  • I've never been motivated to follow creators on FB.  Perhaps because I did English Lit at Uni, and the more I found out about the writers I loved, the less I liked them?

I've started following Busiek only very recently, but already, lovely guy that he is, I'm not sure I like peeking behind the curtain?

Just some thoughts that I haven't really worked all the way through...
