Hi all!
It just occured to me that there might be some utility in having a thread where we post what cons we're going to (and other assorted nerdery) to see if anyone wants to meet up for a while, and see each other in person! (gasp!)
So here's that thread! Apologies if this already exists somewhere; I didn't see it.

First item in the thread: Baltimore Comic Con, Sept 20-22, 2024
I'll be in Baltimore for all 3 days of the con (probably arriving a little late on Friday). Is anyone else going? I'd love to see you!
Naturally, the link somehow has automatically generated a graphic for BCC...with last year's dates! Sept 20-22 is correct.

Tracy and I will give it some serious thought and let you know.

Something like that happened to us once. We were to meet up with someone at the A.P.E. (Amateur Press Expo) in San Francisco one year. I hard-copied the address from the link, but when we got to the venue, no expo. Then I noticed the map from from the year before!
I hadn't planned on going to the Baltimore Comic Con, but I live down the road in the DMV*, so I'll reconsider. I can at least try to connect with anyone who comes to the convention for dinner.
* the District of Columbia and the adjacent counties from the state of Maryland and the commonwealth of Virginia that comprise the greater Washington area.
That would be awesome! Do you happen to like crabs? In Maryland, I'm gonna have crabs as often as possible.
My brother and one of my best friends live (separately) in Vienna, Va, or thereabouts, and another friend lives in Westminster, Md. I should be down there more often than I am.
Yes, I will go to the Baltimore Comic-Con. Send me a message so we can figure out how to connect while we are both there.
As for crabs ... I do eat them but haven't in a long while.
I had forgotten: that is the weekend Tracy will be in Houston with a friend of hers, so I'm out... at least this year. I do like the idea of a "Round Table Meet-Up Thread" though.
Pre-COVID, remember, we had discussed tentative plans to get together either at the Griswold Inn in Essex, CT (the exterior of the Collinsport Inn) or Newport, RI somewhere and eat at the Black Pearl (exterior of the Blue Whale) and see Seaview Terrace (Collinwood).
Oh, right! I'd still love to do that sometime!
And maybe Terrificon is another worthwhile con to look into; it's at the Mohegan Sun casino, north of NYC. The timing for that one is always a little tight for me, but maybe next year will be more manageable, as one of our summer vacations might be moving later to the fall. (At last! Our friends' kids are all grown, and we're no longer beholden to school schedules!)
Some of you know that Jeff and I recently met for the first time when he visited Southern California for a family birthday. Summer is basically gone, but in the future I’d like to meet any of you guys who come here for a convention* or another reason.
* San Diego, Anaheim, Long Beach or Los Angeles.
Awesome -- I haven't been out that way in over 20 years, so maybe it's time to try again!
It took me a while to refind this page. If anyone is out my way (Sioux Falls, SD) the end of the month (September 27-29) I'll be a Siouxpercon 2024 (say it out loud).
Actually, I'll be making a presentation at 4:00 on Saturday. It'll be about Dell Comics in the 1960s--talk about obscure, but that's the whole point.
