""Licensed" reporter? There's no such thing, at least not here in the U.S. We're constitutionally against such things as licenses for reporters."

ClarkKent_DC replied to The Baron's discussion Now that Clark Kent is Publicly Known to Be Superman...
"I think Clark Kent could only function as a reporter as a freelancer who writes books, not someone cranking out daily stories. But Philip raises an excellent point; knowing he's Superman, who would talk to him and answer his questions?"

ClarkKent_DC replied to Captain Comics's discussion Crisis of Characters at Infinite Publishers!
"You are correct; Scorpio Rose is a retooled miniseries Steve Englehart originally pitched to DC for Madame Xanadu. CBR wrote about it here in the ongoing "Comic Book Urban Legends" column."

ClarkKent_DC replied to The Baron's discussion Now that Clark Kent is Publicly Known to Be Superman...
"Going forward, the only ethical course Clark Kent can follow is to write first-person stories about Superman's actions. As for the past, that's a minefield."

Ten years ago today ...

Posted on February 20, 2011 at 7:56pm 19 Comments

On this day 10 years ago, I was in an accident that totaled my car. I am grateful today for three things:

That I was in the car by myself; I doubt a passenger would have survived.

That I walked away from it whole; save for some pain in my side that lasted about a week, I was and remain physically sound.

That God saw fit to spare me, that I may carry on in this world and be the husband, father and person He wants me to be.

I am also grateful to have…

President Luthor (from the old board)

Posted on September 21, 2009 at 10:30am 9 Comments

From the old board, I launched the "President Luthor" thread with this post (July 21, 2003):

Bugs Bunny, the greatest baseball player ever

Posted on August 18, 2009 at 2:49pm 3 Comments

I just ran across this sportswriter's analysis of "Baseball Bugs," the classic Looney Tunes short in which Bugs Bunny takes on the Gas House Gorillas all by himself -- starting in the fourth inning of a game in which the Gorillas are leading the Tea Totallers 54-0 -- and wins 96-95. It's funny because it's so, so serious ... "Bugs Bunny, Greatest Banned Player Ever"

I also put this on the old site because I don't know how to do the parade of smilies over here.

Three cheers!…
