How's 'that' situation going now?

1. How is the Coronavirus situation where you live? What's closed down? Have you gone out much? Are you (Oh, what's the trendy term now " Self-distancing "?) staying inside as a precaution or actually infected or is anyone else you know? I hope, if so, you're well. Let's...well, exchange comments.
2.   I am now in Portland, Oregon. The Govenor, and then, locally, Portland declared a state of emergency. I saw the comment made that Oregon was the furthest behind on dealing with CV of the 3 West Coast states.
3.   I went out yesterday ( Sun.), I am ill and had sleep to make up to-day (Mon.) and ended up not going out - I may go out across the street to a all-nite grocery tonite-early Tues. I have not heard of a regular medical appointment Tues. being cancelled.

As Cap knows, the entirety of our 2018 and 2019 were consumed by a succession of health issues (one led to the next) for my wife Gayle. Now that she has 95% recovered we are finally able to go back to visiting friends, relatives and restaurants --- we are stuck at home! The only good part is that I’ve had a lot of practice being mostly home and doing only restaurant pickups and grocery shopping.

Richard, I'm delighted that your wife is doing so much better. You have really been through the mill, and now It's a bad environment for someone with a weakened immune system. But I know you're taking all precautions to keep her isolated from any exposure. Good luck, pal.

As for my wife and me, I've been working from home for the last two weeks, but she is still going into the office. I work at an online newspaper (that has a bigger staff than the print one), and she's the Public Information Officer for the county health department, so we're both working a LOT! But that's a good problem to have.

I do miss the usual routine of separate home/work schedules.

I've been keeping a (censored, sporadic and largely non-work-related) Journal of the Plague Year.

Some of the entries were retrofitted in, of course. But yes, I saw two people in Plague Doctor costumes last October. I know that reflects the growing popularity of the ensemble, but in retrospect, it's kind of weird.

We got an email last week stating we had 16,000 people working from home last week. We were also told to prepare to work from home from the long haul. We were given no expected return date.

I will say even for someone like me who enjoys being alone and all that I miss the social interaction of the office. I ended up talking to a co-worker on the phone for about half and hour on Monday.

I have a comparable beard right now, but I plan to fix that tomorrow.

As it turns out, I have been playing with shavettes and double edge safety shavers for the best part of a year as it was.  Having the opportunity to spend some quality time keeping my face tidy and confortable in a semi-artistic way is rather welcome these days.

Mine is "corona beard" only in the sense that latr March/early April is usually the time I start to trim it back bit by bit in anticipation of warmer weather. As it is, I have let it come in untrimmed for six months now. It's getting quite bushy. I usually get a haitcut in April, too.

Thought about it but it would remind too much of my hospital stay last September when I couldn't shave!

Anyway, it appears that the mail service is slowing down so either there is less mail to deliver or less people to deliver it.
