Memorial Long-time Legionnaire Don Collett has passed. I've heard that it was from complications of diabetes, but I don't have much info on that.

Holy crikey! Don and his kids have spent the night in my house!
This breaks my heart.
He went into the hospital about a week ago, and feared things had gotten bad enough that the doctors might not be able to save his leg. Just this morning, I'd checked his facebook page to see if he'd given an update, past the brief, ultimately final one that said he was out of surgery a while back. Even so, I hadn't expected this outcome.
Rest in peace, Don.

Jason Collett has started a gofundme for Don's expenses (even though they don't know what those will be yet).
I do love you oldsters. I will miss Don so much.
Years ago, when he was doing the morning show in Chickasha, we were swapping messages and I was listening in over the internet. I don't remember the exact wording, but he did a bit about "Mickey, his fellow Legionnaire from Mississippi" on the air. It was just a small moment that illustrated the long-lasting connections we all made here over the years.
