  • What she said.

I've been recently reading Essential Avengers Vol. 2, which covers Avengers #25-46 and Avengers King Size Special #1. This is the first time I've seen most of these tales, of "Cap's Kooky Quartet" -- Captain America, Hawkeye, The Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver -- and I didn't think this team could even handle Sgt. Rock and the Combat-Happy Joes of Easy Company. But they had a confidence that carried them through ... something the Legion of Substitute Heroes does not have.

  • The power of Cyclops and Marvel Girl tips the scale in the favor of the X-Men....unless they battle Subs at night, in a forest and Stone Boy lands on Professor X! :-)
  • X-Men, no question.
  • Polar Boy is more mature than Iceman, Night Girl cancels out Cyclops (sorta), Chlorophyll Kid tangles up the Beast, Fire Lad singes Angel's wings and Stone Boy falls on Marvel Girl and Professor X.  Plus, all the Subs have flight rings.

  • Give me the Subs. I think the flight rings do make a significant advantage.
  • I thinkt he Super Smash Brothers could beat them both!
  • Ambush Bug.
  • I gotta go with the Subs. Feedback from Double Header would put Prof. X down for the count.
  • Not familiar with the Substitute heroes.  I'd still probably go with the X-men. I think it'd be a close battle if it was the 60s versions of the X-men. If it was the original line up as they are today it would be no contest, even without Jean since she's dead now.
  • Lemme learn you up...The Subs consisted of:

Polar Boy, who could create great cold and ice...

Night Girl, who was super strong, as long as she was in the dark.

Fire Lad, who could breathe fire

Chlorophyll Kid, who could control plant life.

Stone Boy, who could turn himself into...well, stone...unmoving, unblinking stone.
