So , with the movie imminent , are there four Superman titles now ?
Are they waiting for the video's release to start another quarterly up , for another
52-a-year " set-up ?????????
As I've posted here before , I was buying - the only - two traditional titles just BEFORE N52's announcement , then , afterward , I continued that for 9 or so months .
Then , problems/poverty happened and I fell behind/out .
If I wanted to buy just one now , to keep myself/my ear in a little , what would you recommend ?
Post-52 , I liked the idea/concept of Morrison's ACTION , maybe it wasn't always that great .
The self-titled title , though I'd start off wondering if I wanted to keep getting it , the Perez period , by the end I'd enjoy it - I liked that it was the present time , the " past " set-up of Morrison's meant that not very much would , in a sense , have happened between then and now . .
Especially with star writer Morrison , this was before the movie promotion really set in and , I guess as compared to after the marketing guys/" real businessmen " took over , the writers may have been allowed - somewhat - more leeway .
IIRC , either Perez or his successor left the self-titled after being forced to do a Jor-El story .
Oh , and as for the books of the Morrison run , CC , I assume you were only sent review copies of the recent TPBs , in two volumes , of them ??? Not the HCs ???
Were the two formats , the HCs and TPBs , identical in content or did , perhaps , the HCs collate them more sensibly than you describe the TPBs doing ?
I can imagine them doing that , somehow:-(.........

...I mean.........Does anyone , as of right here , right now , buy any - or all - of the present-day ongoing Big Blue monthlies from DC ???
Just one or in-between ???
What is the personality/" mission " of each one now ?
E.D., I'll try to answer your questions as best I can:
Currently, there are 2 titles: Action and Superman. This month, they are adding a 3rd title, Superman Unchained. As far as I know, it is also a monthly, and there are no plans to do a quarterly book.
Superman also appears in Justice League and will be the co-star of Batman/Superman, which I believe also debuts this month.
I'm tradewaiting Action and Superman (and JL). So I have one Action trade, and sadly, it is on the Pile o' Shame (meaning it is unread). Superman has only had one hardcover volume, I believe.
Action has been getting mostly rave reviews, Superman much less so. You hear a lot of comment that many New 52 titles are evoking the 90s; Perez's work has been cited as being 80s - ish. People seem to be lukewarm but not negative.
With Morrison leaving, Scott Lobdell will be writing both Superman and Action. I don't care for his writing and I will give Unchained a tryout.
BTW, the creative teams for the new titles are:
Superman Unchained - Scott Snyder and Jim Lee
Batman/Superman - Greg Pak and Jae Lee
Superman Unchained is actually going to be a trade wait for me, it looks like it should be good, but the price point scared me off.
I was getting both Action Comics and Superman, but my interest in them petered out, particularly in Action when Superman gained the body armor. Silly as the Lil' Abner look was, I wanted more about the early days of this Superman than I got.
...Thank you , John .
Is Superman Unchained $3.99 ? For 40 pages ?
I had the impression that there was a new ADVENTURES OF SUPERMAN title , making 4 monthlies .
BTW , any plans for any adaptations/prequels/set-in-the-world-ofs comics for The Man Of Steel ?
You're right, ED, there is an Adventures of Superman title. It's "non-continuity" stories, though, and part of the digital-first initiative. Meaning: three short episodes are produced online (99 cents apiece), and then reprinted as a paper comic book (for $3.99, I think). The first paper issue is out, and I like all three stories in it. It doesn't really count as "New-52 Superman," but everything I've read associated with that title has been entertaining.

So, that's who those guys were at my local on FCBD. I wondered what they were famous for.
...Thank you !!!!!!!!!!!
How short ?
6-8 pages ? In the last days of Julius Schwartz's editing of it/the Silver Age Superman the SUPERMAN title returned to the Fifties model and started having as many as 3 complete stories in an issue at least part of the time , IIRC...
BTW , speaking of - Initially - " digital-only " have there been discussions here of this BATMAN '66 " intentionally campy/retro " project ???
