Mostly trade waits. The Animal Man & Swamp Thing revamps are "wait and see" titles, but I like what I've heard about them.
Action Comics #1 — I haven't read the preview that's posted online yet, but this is the title for which I hold out the most hope in the DC relaunch.
Animal Man #1 — This one went automatically on my pull list, even though it's one of the ones I'm most iffy about. I figure I can always drop it, but I'm betting on Lemire bringing some brilliance to this title.
Batgirl #1 — Not for sure. I'm definitely interested in giving it a try, but it's not on my pre-selected list, and September is a bigger-than-normal month for me. We'll see how my budget feels when I get to the shop on Wednesday.
Heroes for Hire #11 — The first of FIVE Marvel titles I buy that are double-shipping this month (which is what's making September so big). I haven't been keen on the Fear Itself tie-in part of this book, but it's still enjoyable.
Mystic #2 — I am buying this book for two reasons: 1) I like David Lopez's art; and 2) I want to encourage Marvel to make more things like this. The story is fun, but without those two factors, it would easily be a "wait for the library to get the trade" title...
Swamp Thing #1 — Another new DC title for which I hold strong hope. Scott Snyder should do well with this book, I expect.
X-Factor #224.1 — And another title Marvel is double-shipping on me in September.
Man, during the month of September, I get the feeling about a third of my tutoring money is going to be for comics! I should just have them write checks to the "DC Fund".
A whole lot of one-issue tries this week. I didn't go all-out on the DCU (or should I say the DC*ugh*"Nu"?), but I'm willing to try a lot of things for one issue, based on the creative teams, and give them a chance to woo me.
ACTION COMICS #1: Grant Morrison is all I need to give this one a try, but based on the previews, I wouldn't have picked it up otherwise. ANIMAL MAN #1: Jeff Lemire is hit or miss for me. Seeing as this is a "Vertigo Lite" book, I'm hoping this is more Essex County and Sweet Tooth, and not so much Atom or Superboy. BATGIRL #1: This Oracle fan/Doubting Thomas is giving Gail Simone a HARD one-issue try to convince me that she's doing the right thing. BATWING #1: Judd Winick and Ben Oliver? Wow, I would have bought this issue based on either of them. Looking forward to this one. HAWK AND DOVE #1: I'm not ashamed to say that the 13-year-old in me enjoys Rob Liefeld's art. I didn't care for his Infinite, but I am looking forward to his pairing with Sterling Gates on Hawk and Dove. MEN OF WAR #1: Okay, this is another 13-year-old "this looks awesome!" pick. I like Ivan Brandon, and when Tom Derenick is on the right thing (non-super-heroes, which he makes look as bland as oatmeal), he looks pretty good. MOON KNIGHT #5: Even if all of these new #1s are crappy, at least I'll have good ol' Marvel to keep me happy. NEW AVENGERS ANNUAL #1: Ditto! OMAC #1: Keith Giffen outweighs Dan Didio on this one. The art looks incredible. I hope Giffen is spotting Didio on the story on this book as well; it will give it a better chance. SPIDER-ISLAND AVENGERS #1 SPI: I really should get around to reading some of this Spider-Island stuff before I give it much more of an investment. STATIC SHOCK #1: I also love Scott McDaniel, and I am a recent hard-core John Rozum fan. I hope this one makes me happy! STORMWATCH #1: I really hope they make the J'onn J'onnz infusion seamless. It won't be easy, but it's not impossible.
