Jeff of Earth-J replied to Captain Comics's discussion The Massive, Extravagant, Over-the-top Golden Age JSA Re-read
"Regarding the suppression of uncomfortable topics from an earlier era, some of you may find this interersting. It is the disclaimer from Society is Nix - Gleeful Anarchy at the Dawn of the America Comic Strip - 1895-1915, the revised and expanded…"

Luke Blanchard replied to Captain Comics's discussion The Massive, Extravagant, Over-the-top Golden Age JSA Re-read
"Since New Fun was a tabloid, and the features modelled after newspaper strips, the initial features were mostly 1 page or 1 page with a topper (which in newspapers as here might be placed below the main strip).
    New Comics, as a half-tabloid,…"

I’m still here. I have learned how complex dying is especially for those left behind. I am at the beginning of all this.
We had a nice memorial at Shore leave. People were checking in on me the whole weekend. I…"

Philip Portelli replied to Captain Comics's discussion The Massive, Extravagant, Over-the-top Golden Age JSA Re-read
"In regard to the cancelled Early Detective Comics box set and the previous Monster Society of Evil collection (which I ordered and, of course, never got), I feel that older media should not be censored or even feared. Yes, they could be disturbing…"

"Cap, you're making be regret more than ever that DC cancelled their plans for that slipcased set of Detective Comics #1-26.
I know. I just freaking hated that decision. I want to know what’s in those books!

Captain Comics replied to Captain Comics's discussion The Massive, Extravagant, Over-the-top Golden Age JSA Re-read
"Given the page count, Slam Bradley was the closest thing that the early DC had as a "star" character.
I think so, too. Not only was he 13 pages long every issue, but he was usually in the “anchor” spot in Detective Comics, which is where you’d find…"

"Given the page count, Slam Bradley was the closest thing that the early DC had as a "star" character.
It's not that hard to mix the bizarreness of Doctor Occult and the two-fisted action of Slam Bradley and get Superman as the early Man of Steel had…"

    JANUARY 1938
A new year begins, and where does DC stand in the mystery man category? it's got Doctor Occult, and maybe Nadir, and ... um, gee, that's about it. At DC's competition, the list was short as well. The Clock, Bob Phantom (sorta), maybe…"

I have one scheduled for week after next. What's up?

    • Richard Willis May 16, 2018 at 11:43pm

Are you going to write an article on the show Cloak & Dagger, which debuts June 7 on the Freeform cable channel (formerly ABC Family)?

    • Bill Cromer February 14, 2017 at 8:14am

After all these years, that's all I get, "Welcome aboard" ? Geez, it's not like I've only know you longer than any human on this planet outside my siblings.  Seriously, I hope all is well. Speaking of siblings, how's Clyde, Bethany and Persilla (sp?)? Hal, Randy and Karen (mine) are still alive and kicking. I hope you're doing OK. My life has been eventful, good and bad. You must be in hog heaven with all the movies finally able to match people's imagination with the CGI and all.  Every time I go to one or read a comic, I can't help but think of you, old friend. Yes, you're living rent free in my skull.  Stop it. Stop it now...damn, didn't work. I live in Charleston, SC.  Great place. Come visit...or else...

Hulk now part of army of Hulks. A-Bomb, Red-Hulk, She-Hulk, Red She-Hulk, Paisley She-Hulk, Hulkcetera. Hulk in big-budget movies. Hulk on red carpets. Hulk's introversion clearly a ploy to get attention.

    • Lee Whitfield July 5, 2015 at 1:31am

Hulk still not sure about this social media stuff, kinda defeats the whole purpose of being an introvert, if you ask Hulk...

i'm happy that she is such a good student, tell her hello for me.
