Jeff of Earth-J replied to Captain Comics's discussion Comics for Jan. 21, 2026
"Chip Zdarsky told a story in the first five issues about Cap right out of the ice (moved up considerably from 1964), which I did not read.
I read it, and I liked it at the time. I took it as a reboot, but I'm having second thoughts about it now. I…"

They should call themselves "Mutant Special Team 3000", I'm sure that there'd be a good initialism for that."

    TOP 10 PUBLISHERS
    NO. 1: MARVEL COMICS
    IMPERIAL
As I said with Nova: Centurion last week, I'm on the fence on the titles emerging from Jonathan Hickman's "Imperial." In fact, I somehow missed Black Panther: Intergalactic #1 and Planet She-Hulk #2,…

"I've mentioned The Moon is a Harsh Mistress.
There it is! I must've brushed right past it, paying more attention to what you said about Stranger and Starship Troopers.
    Sorry 'bout that!"

JD DeLuzio replied to Captain Comics's discussion The Nerd Canon
"I've mentioned The Moon is a Harsh Mistress. If one was selecting a single Heinlein to read, it would be a good choice. It has enough to sustain it, despite dated elements.
The Stars My Destination is definitely worth reading. It's a facinating…"

"Honestly, don't bother. The only three worth reading are the three I mentioned above that are written by the original author ("Richard Hooker," although I believe his real name is Hornberger). The rest, "co-written" by William Butterworth, are crap.…"

JD DeLuzio replied to Captain Comics's discussion The Nerd Canon
"Stranger in a Strange Land was a big deal when it came out, but it doesn't hold up at all for me.  Starship Troopers is hugely influential, whatever the politics are supposed to be (a thorny issue with the oft-controversial Heinlein). Some of his YA…"

Captain Comics replied to Captain Comics's discussion The Nerd Canon
"That's a good addition. I didn't read those when I read the rest of the canon, probably because they weren't on the paperback racks at the time. (I remember seeing some Executioner books, and similar, which didn't interest me.) It might have been…"

I have one scheduled for week after next. What's up?

Are you going to write an article on the show Cloak & Dagger, which debuts June 7 on the Freeform cable channel (formerly ABC Family)?

    • Bill Cromer February 14, 2017 at 8:14am

After all these years, that's all I get, "Welcome aboard" ? Geez, it's not like I've only know you longer than any human on this planet outside my siblings.  Seriously, I hope all is well. Speaking of siblings, how's Clyde, Bethany and Persilla (sp?)? Hal, Randy and Karen (mine) are still alive and kicking. I hope you're doing OK. My life has been eventful, good and bad. You must be in hog heaven with all the movies finally able to match people's imagination with the CGI and all.  Every time I go to one or read a comic, I can't help but think of you, old friend. Yes, you're living rent free in my skull.  Stop it. Stop it now...damn, didn't work. I live in Charleston, SC.  Great place. Come visit...or else...

Hulk now part of army of Hulks. A-Bomb, Red-Hulk, She-Hulk, Red She-Hulk, Paisley She-Hulk, Hulkcetera. Hulk in big-budget movies. Hulk on red carpets. Hulk's introversion clearly a ploy to get attention.

    • Lee Whitfield July 5, 2015 at 1:31am

Hulk still not sure about this social media stuff, kinda defeats the whole purpose of being an introvert, if you ask Hulk...

yes, i was very excited when she told me who her teacher was. I've been following you for years. started way back with your column in the commercial appeal. she laughed at how excited i was.

i'm happy that she is such a good student, tell her hello for me.
